Wedding Bells: City Hall hosted the wedding ceremonies of a number of gay couples as the state fulfilled the State Supreme Court decision to allow couples to file marriage certificates. Among the happy couples were Andrew Nance (above left) and Jim Maloney (above right) who filled out the required paperwork before their ceremony on June 27. Nance is the director of the New Conservatory Theatre in the city and Maloney is the maritime marketing manager with the Port of San Francisco.
“This last wedding was really a joyful experience,” said Nance. “The first time, four years ago, it was so rushed that we were not able to have any of our friends and family at the ceremony. This time we surrounded ourselves with many of the people we feel the closest to, so there were a lot of happy tears, from everyone, including ourselves! We’ve been together for over 18 years, but to have the people you respect and adore honoring your love of one another was really a powerful memory for us.” (photo: Bill Sywak)
