Castro Crime Beat
June 24, 8:21 p.m., Robbery, 2400 Block of Market Street
Officers detailed to patrol the Castro after the Pride Parade observed an altercation at Castro and Market streets. The suspect confronted a woman as she exited a liquor store, grabbing her purchases.
Officers witnessed the incident in addition to several witnesses who came forward. One suspect has been arrested.
July 14, 5 a.m., Attempted Rape, Twin Peaks Boulevard
A woman went dancing downtown with her cousin and met up with a man whom they accepted a ride from.
The suspect took them to Oakland to look for his “hos,” and then returned back to San Francisco. Once back in the City, the suspect met up with another male suspect and the two girls split up, leaving in separate cars.
The victim was taken to Twin Peaks by the suspect under the pretense of “seeing the sights.” Once at Twin Peaks, the suspect began to sexually assault the woman. When she resisted his advances, the suspect began to strike her in the face and pull her hair. The victim struggled to get out of the vehicle but the suspect grabbed the back of her pants. In order to escape, the victim released the buttons of her pants and wiggled free, leaving the pants behind as she exited the vehicle.
Officers immediately responded to the area but were unable to locate the suspect. The case is currently under investigation.
June 26, 6:44 p.m., Wanted Felon Captured, 14th and Noe streets
An officer working alone saw a car pass by, catching a good look at the driver. He recognized the driver, as the suspect noted in a recent teletype, who was wanted for the attempted murder of two SF police officers. The crime led to a two-year investigation culminating in the indictment of the suspect.
The suspect was pulled over and taken into custody for questioning.
July 8, 1:05 a.m., Auto Burglary, Arrest Made, 400 Block of Guerrero Street
Officers responded to reports of an auto theft in progress.
The victim told officers that she confronted a suspect whom she found removing items from her car. The suspect told the victim that she had a gun and subsequently fled with several items from the car.
Other responding officers located the suspect a short distance away. She was taken into custody and numerous items were recovered. The suspect was on active parole.
