Aug. 14, 9:10 p.m., Robbery with Force, Steiner Street near Duboce Park
A young woman was walking south on Steiner St., when a suspect approached her from behind and put his hand over her face. For a second the victim thought a friend was playing with her but the suspect put her in a headlock and took her down to the ground and demanded money. The victim complied, reached into her purse giving him her bank card.
The suspect fled the scene with the card, and a witness came to the aid of the victim. Police searched the area for the suspect to no avail.
Aug. 12, 2:22 a.m., Robbery, 400 Block of Castro Street
The victim was in a parking lot, urinating against a chain link fence, when two male suspects came up behind him and pushed his head into the fence. One of the suspects then took his wallet from his jacket before both suspects ran away.
One suspect was described as wearing a black “do rag,” a black sweatshirt with “Oakland A’s” on the back and blue baggy jeans with black shoes.
Aug. 16, 3:13 p.m., Indecent Exposure, Corona Heights/Museum Way
Officers responded to the Corona Heights area on a call of indecent exposure. The area is the location of the Josephine Randall Junior Museum and a children’s playground.
Officers located two men in a car, one whom was naked from the waist down. The men admitted to performing a sex act in the car in broad daylight of the park.
Officers cited the two naked men.
July 31, 5:13 p.m. Assault on Police Officer/ Forged Checks, 400 Block of Castro Street
Mission Station officers responded to a bank on a call of two males attempting to cash forged checks. Officers entered the bank and attempted to detain one of the suspects. However, the suspect ran out of the bank and started fighting with the two officers. After a second police unit arrived, the suspect was taken into custody.
In a violent struggle, one officer received a dislocated elbow and the other officer suffered a back injury. Both officers were transported to the hospital where they were treated and placed on disability.
The suspect was on parole and lives in Oakland but came to San Francisco to forge checks. He was booked for forgery, resisting arrest and a parole violation.
The second suspect escaped.
July 29, 2:45 p.m., Heroin and Marijuana Offense, Duboce Park
Officers responded to Duboce Park on a call about people doing drugs. Upon their arrival, they noticed an individual matching the description given in the location specified. A brief investigation revealed a syringe, heroin and marijuana, as well as fresh needle marks on the suspect’s arm. He was taken into custody and transported to Park Station where his identity was ascertained and booked accordingly.
Aug. 6, 10:08 a.m., Felony Drug Arrest, Duboce and Church Streets
Plainclothes officers were in the parking lot of a large grocery store when they saw a guy they knew to be on parole. He appeared to be smoking something and they suspected it was crack cocaine, his drug of choice. They approached him and confirmed that he was indeed smoking crack. The officers placed him under arrest and found more crack cocaine in his left sock before transporting him to jail.
Aug. 16, 9:50 p.m., Robbery and Aggravated Assault, Fell and Steiner Streets
A motorist was stopped at the red light at Fell and Steiner streets when an unknown suspect punched him in the face.
The suspect and 3-4 others ordered the victim out of the car and demanded the victim’s money. The suspects punched and kicked the victim until he handed over his money. They ran away on foot in an unknown direction.
