“Sunset Boulevard”: Saturday, Oct. 6, 8 p.m. The SF Neighborhood Theater Foundation presents the classic film “Sunset Boulevard” starring William Holden on a big screen at Dolores Park. Free.

Radar Salon: Literary Conversations, Revelations and Gossip: Tuesday, Oct. 9, 7 - 8:30 p.m. Author Michelle Tea returns for another Radar Salon. This time, she brings author Leah Lakshmi Piepzna-Samarasinha and entertainer Cherry Galette. Free treats in exchange for thoughtful audience questions! Castro Jeweler to Host Breast Cancer Benefit: Thursday, Oct. 11, 5-7 p.m. Fashion mavens seeking new bling to dazzle onlookers this holiday season will be in luck. Jeweler Maria Ruchka will unveil her new collection at a private shopping night for the Breast Cancer Emergency Fund (BCEF). 2103 Market St. at Church.

Calling All NERTs! (Neighborhood Emergency Response Team members): Saturday, Oct. 13th, 9 a.m.- noon. There will be a joint neighborhood drill for all of the NERTs in Bernal North & South, Castro, Diamond Heights, Glen Park, Mission, Mission Dolores, and Noe Valley. We’ll practice some NERT skills, and find out who else in the neighborhood is on the team. Duboce Park, Duboce at Noe Street. Afternoon of Spinning: Saturday, Oct. 13, 1-4 p.m. Local artisans Laura and Karyn Chinn Smoot and friends will demonstrate traditional spinning techniques on several types of spinning wheels using a variety of plant and animal fibers. Visitors can watch the experts at their craft, then learn how to make a drop spindle to take home and start spinning beautiful threads and yarns for themselves. Randall Museum, 199 Museum Way.

LGBT Communities Photo Day: Oct. 14 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the public is invited to bring personal photo collections to the Shades of LGBT Communities Photo Day at the Eureka Valley/Harvey Milk Memorial Branch Library at 16th and Pond streets. Historians and volunteers will select images to add to the archive (the above photo was taken in June 1977 at Gay Freedom Day). No donations are necessary as selected photos are copied on the spot. Photographs will become available to library users at both the San Francisco History Center at the Main Library and the Eureka Valley Branch. An exhibition of the images is planned at the Eureka Valley Branch when it

Third Friday Birders at Corona Heights: Friday, Oct. 19, 8 a.m. Audubon experts will be guiding birders hoping to spot late migrants and those critters which have decided to spend the winter in the City. Join the trek and discover which conifer the Pigmy nuthatches may be searching for nutritious insects and find out if the Allen’s Hummingbird babies have stayed here to grow up a bit more.
