Castro Crime Beat: November 2008
Oct. 18, 7 a.m. Dolores and 18th streets, Robbery with Force, Narcotic Offense
A suspect approached a male victim on the street and took his wallet after a struggle. A short time later, the suspect grabbed the purse of a woman a few blocks away and fought her off for possession of the purse.
Police and searched for and located the suspect who was subsequently arrested.
Oct. 9, 7 a.m., 400 Block of 14th Street, Residential Burglary
A man returned to his home to find his laptop computer and personal paperwork stolen. The police determined the suspect entered through a bathroom window screen.
Oct. 7, 12:43 a.m., 200 Block of Dolores Street, Vehicular Burglary
Two witnesses called the police when they saw a suspect in a vehicle with a smashed rear window. The police found the suspect had damaged the interior of the vehicle and tampered with the vehicle’s wiring and also had burglary tools in his possession. The suspect was arrested.
Oct. 5, 2:15 p.m., 3000 Block of Market Street, Unlawful Entry and Burglary
A woman left the back door to her residence unlocked and when she returned home she found that a suspect had entered her home and stole several laptops, jewelry and a gun. CSI responded to process the scene.
Oct. 1, 6 p.m., 500 Block of Castro Street, Burglary and Vandalism
The suspect entered the victim’s business by damaging a mailbox lock in order to gain access to the entry keypad system. The victim’s video security system captured the suspect entering and exiting the building. No arrest has been made.
Sept. 26, 5:28 p.m., 500 Block of Valencia Street, Pickpocket
The police arrested a female suspect who stole a victim’s wallet from the victim’s backpack while pretending to bump into her on the street. The suspect also had a warrant out for her arrest in Marin County.
