April 16, 4:15 a.m., Attempted Homicide/ Domestic Violence-Arrest, Twin Peaks area
The victim and her daughter were asleep in their apartment located in the Twin Peaks area about 4:15 a.m. when they were awakened by the sound of breaking glass. The daughter ran down to see her mother’s ex-husband breaking into the residence. She ran upstairs to warn her mother.
The suspect gained entry and hunted the woman down striking her with a claw hammer. Neighbors heard the frantic screams and alerted the police. Officers responded and recognized the address from previous calls. The victim tried to get away and fled towards the street as the suspect continued striking her with the hammer. As the assault continued onto the sidewalk, the daughter and several neighbors intervened by hitting the suspect with anything that was available.
The suspect fled as he heard police cars approach. Officers swamped the area and located the suspect on a nearby street. A search was conducted for the bloodied hammer and it was located in a rear yard adjacent to the assault. The woman was in critical condition after the attack.

April 7, 7:56 a.m., Street Robbery, Duboce Avenue at Valencia Street
The victim walking when she felt a tug on her purse strap from behind. The victim attempted to hold onto her purse and was dragged on the ground by the suspect. The suspect entered a waiting vehicle, with a second suspect driving. The victim held onto her purse as the vehicle drove away, but subsequently let go.
The suspects are still outstanding.

April 10, between 12:30 and 3 p.m., Theft from Building
A suspect entered two separate dental offices in the Castro and stated that he had business there. The “patient” then proceeded to steal personal items from employees before leaving.
