Castro Reacts to Prop. 8 Court Ruling
On May 26, the California Supreme Court upheld Proposition 8 which banned gay marriage in the state, though the ruling recognized the legality of marriages that had already taken place. Protestors staged a peaceful march and a demonstration that night to protest the ruling with the police cordoning off streets as a precaution. In the photo above, couple Chrystal Schreck (left) and Heather Seeley (right) remained unbowed by the court’s decision, saying, “We’re going to keep on fighting.” As another sign of protest, a small black flag was hoisted above the rainbow flag at Harvey Milk Plaza.
