Under One Roof Holiday Party
Welcomes New Director and Neighborhood Crowd
Mark Burns, the new Executive Director of Under One Roof, stands in front of the Christmas tree in the Under One Roof store on 18th Street during their holiday party on Nov. 15.
After an extensive search for a new General Manager, the board of Under One Roof selected Burns, a Yale graduate and long-time resident of the Castro with extensive experience in retail, on-line sales, marketing and business expansion.
A local entrepreneur, Burns owned and operated the Castro Kitchen Supply Company and more recently was vice president of a computer retail and service business in Portland, Maine.
He has also held senior management positions at Charles Schwab, Citicorp and JP Morgan Chase.
Burns said he was “absolutely thrilled to be joining the Under One Roof team.”
Seeing the organization’s “unique ability to provide unrestricted funds at a time when HIV/AIDS service organizations are being fiscally challenged,” Burns concluded, “I’m honored by the opportunity to take the organization’s highly respected legacy forward.”
