Friends of Duboce Park Volunteer Days: Saturday, Dec. 8, 10 a.m. – noon. Meet at the bulletin board near the playground and Muni stop. Holiday Leather Brunch: Sunday, Dec. 9, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Celebrate the holidays by enjoying a breakfast and lunch buffet alongside a silent auction and other entertainment in the 11th annual Holiday Leather Brunch put on by Krewe de Kinque. Octavia Lounge, 1772 Market St. Tickets are $25 and auction item donations are appreciated.

FIRST Lego League Robotic Challenge: Sunday, Dec. 9, 9:45 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Watch students compete in the qualifying tournament put on by the Randall Museum in cooperation with the FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Lego League in a challenge to use robotics to solve pressing contemporary problems. Upper Market Workshop Series and Design Plan Community Workshop #3: Monday, Dec. 10, 6 – 9 p.m. The SF Planning Department and MIG Consultants host. The final meeting will be an opportunity for community members to affirm the community design framework that was created during the first two community meetings. The meeting will also include activities that will address how the public space recommendations and new development guidelines of the design strategy should be applied to the Upper Market Street Corridor. Harvey Milk LGBT Democratic Club Holiday Party: Sunday, Dec. 15, 8 –11 p.m. The public can enjoy holiday music and drink specials at Café Flore. 2298 Market St.

Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence Yuletide Social for Mama’s Family Toy Drive: Sunday, Dec. 16, 3-7 p.m. Entertainment, raffle and drink specials, photos with either a traditional Santa or hunky Santa Derrick Hanson to benefit Sunburst Projects and SFPD. Hosted by Sister Mary Mae Himm and Novice Sister MaraLee OnWard. New and unwrapped toys are accepted. Café Flore, 2290 Market St.

San Francisco Amateur Astronomers’ Lecture Series: Wednesday, Dec. 19, 8 p.m. Dr. James Cottle recounts his experience as a trainee with NASA in the ’70s. Randall Museum, 199 Museum Way.

Scaled Snake Sculptures: Saturday, Dec. 22, 1 – 4 p.m. Observe a snake, skin, & snake skeleton, learn some amazing snake facts, and create your own snake sculpture. Randall Museum, 199 Museum Way. $3 for children, $5 for adults.
