Sisters Through the Looking Glass: An Enemy of the People by Henrik Ibsen: Friday, April 9 & 10 at 7:30 p.m., Sunday, April 11, 3 p.m. San Francisco Recreation and Park Department presents SF FREE Civic Theatre. Birding the Hill: Friday, April 16, 8 a.m. Explore Corona Heights Park to check out its avian inhabitants with Audubon experts. Birders will circle the hill to look into several habitats, each of which is enjoyed by different bird species. The east canyon, the south cliffs, the north forest, and the hilltop grasslands will all be explored. The walk lasts about two hours and includes several stairs and a steep path to climb. Clean Team’s Earth Day Celebration: Saturday, April 17, 9 a.m. to noon. If you are looking for volunteer opportunities to help green and clean San Francisco, join the Community Clean Team (CCT) at Christopher Playground (Diamond Heights Blvd. and Duncan). The CCT is a citywide volunteer program that needs help with projects such as tree planting, landscaping, weeding, graffiti abatement, and litter removal. McKinley Elementary DogFest: Saturday, April 17, 11 a.m.- 4 p.m. in Duboce Park. Top Chef veterans Ryan Scott and Preeti Mistry, along with official Lemony Snicket Representative Daniel Handler, are among the many local celebrities on the docket to appear. DogFest is a celebration of dogs and kids. Enter your dog in contests for best trick, best costume, best look-alike duo, best bark, most ear-resistible, and other categories. Or treat your kid to a day of jumpy houses, face painting, carnival games, tasty treats, and more. All proceeds benefit much needed educational enrichment programs for McKinley children. Out in Israel: A month-long festival will be taking place throughout April at venues in the Bay Area and San Francisco. Several partners and community organizations have joined together with some of the most prominent voices in the Israeli LGBT community to showcase some of the best of Israeli LGBT cultural and artistic creation. Out in Israel will feature LGBT art, literature, film, drama, food, dance, progressive thought and intellectual debate. The celebration includes an LGBT film series, theatrical and musical performances by prominent Israeli artists, cooking demonstrations, art exhibitions, literary readings, and panels and discussions on LGBT culture in Israel. All of the events are free and open to the public, except for the film Eyes Wide Open ($8), and the dance performance 4 Men, Alice, Bach, and the Deer ($10). For more info visit outinisraelsf.org. An Evening with Roger Ebert and Friends: Internationally renowned film critic Roger Ebert will be in attendance to receive the San Francisco International Film Festival’s annual Mel Novikoff Award.
